The mad man inside the police truck in the photo above was arrested at Alakija bus stop in Lagos after he allegedly attacked two policemen on duty with a bottle. The incident happened inside the premises of a Redeemed Christian Church of God in Alakija area of Lagos state yesterday.

The policemen on duty were attacked as they tried to chase an insane woman away from the premises of the aforementioned church.

According to an eyewitness:

“Trouble started when the woman was stand­ing in front of the church and policemen deployed to the area attempted to evict her.

A 28-year-old man, Raphael Effiong, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly killing his lover, Gift Sunday, in a hotel because she refused to marry him.

Our correspondent learnt that while 26-year-old Sunday, who lived on Fadiya Street, Ketu, Lagos, was a fashion designer, Effiong, an indigene of Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State, was working as a driver in a telecommunications company in Lagos.

According to the victim’s relatives, Sunday had met Effiong sometime last year, and the duo had been having an affair since then.

Our correspondent further learnt that Effiong had on many occasions proposed to marry the deceased, but the latter was said to have turned down his request stating that he was a difficult man.

Last week, Rebecca Ehalt was visiting her family’s home in Pennsylvania, all the way from Slovenia when she got quite the greeting. The family dog, Casey, a 9 year old light gray pup with a strong set of pipes, hadn’t seen Ehalt in two years, according to news reports. Upon their reunion, the pooch squealed, jumped on her and smothered her with kisses. Then, after a few moments, the pup started to wobble and passed out from excitement.

Ehalt posted a video of it on YouTube, writing that “in fairness,” two years “is 14 years in dog years.” The video has more than 29 million views.

Ebola Virus Scare In Anambra State, Government Seals Off Hospital Over Dead Body Brought Back From Liberia

The Anambra Commissioner of Health, Josephat Akabuike, today announced that a hospital has been sealed off and its workers and patients quarantined due to Ebola disease scare.

Briefing journalists in Awka, Ms. Akabuike said the measure followed information received by the government that a man whose body was brought back from Liberia at the weekend, might have died of the killer disease.

He said that information available to the government indicated that the body was brought back from Liberia through Lagos and deposited in the mortuary at Nkwelle-Ezenaka in Oyi Local Government of the state.

Malaysia Airlines Plane forced to abandon take-off to avoid collision with incoming flight

A Malaysia Airlines plane was forced to abort a take-off after learning that it was on a collision course with an incoming airliner.

Flight MH136, which had 167 passengers on board, was already rolling down the runway at Adelaide Airport yesterday when it was forced to slam on the brakes.

Adelaide Air Traffic Control radioed the flight, bound for Kuala Lumpur, with instructions to abort the takeoff after realising the plane was on a collision course with in incoming jet.

Asaba Pastor Arrested After His Holy Water Kills 2 Children

A man, said to be a pastor, and a woman are in Police net in Asaba, the Delta State capital for allegedly killing two children with a deadly substance sold by the pastor for N1,850.

The Delta State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Celestina Kalu, in a release, said the suspects are in custody helping the police with relevant information.

According to Kalu,

“on July 25, at about 4.00 am, the Police at Abraka Police Station received information that a woman, Ese Oghenevwe (25), of Urhuoka quarters, Abraka had killed her two sons namely, Prayer Clement (9 months) and Wisdom Clement ( 2 years) by giving them a liquid substance to drink.

Gunmen Abduct Senator Emmanuel Paulker's 90 Year Old Mother

Gunmen yesterday abducted Florentina, the monther of Senator Emmanuel Paulker, in Bayelsa State.

The 90-year-old woman was abducted on yesterday morning at her residence in Opolo-Epie, Yenagoa and this is the second time she'll be kidnapped in four years.

The  abductors, (Five in number) armed with AK-47 and other assorted rifles stormed her residence about 3am and started shooting sporadically into the air. They seized the old woman and whisked her away to an unknown place.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hilary Opara, confirmed the development and said one of the suspected kidnappers had been arrested. The commissioner said,

“Although the report got to the police after the kidnappers had gone, we immediately swung into action and arrested one suspect who is already assisting the police in investigation and we hope that in no distant time, the victim would be rescued.”

Yesterday, Nollywood's bad boy Jim Iyke who was in Monrovia, Liberia for business, fled the country after reports of an outbreak of the deadly Ebola virus in the country.

Nigerians have taken a massive outcry to health authourites on social media demanding the actor should be quarantined on arrival in Nigeria and should also be tested until it's proven he is clean.

Someone told him this:

“Life has no duplicate…. better run like Ben Johnson, but then go for check up as soon as you arrive nigeria or any country of your next destination… expect thorough screening” 

Though some others asked ,” why are all these odds being associated with Africa First?.”

A 35-year-old man, Yinka Offehin, is battling for his life at a private hospital in Lagos State after his scrotum was cut by the children of his landlady.

The Edo State indigene, who resides on Popoola Street, off Abaranje Road in the Ikotun area of Lagos, was said to have been attacked while sleeping in his room with his family members. His wife, Bisi, who was with him when the incident happened, identified the assailants as Solomon and Damilola, the children of the landlady.

She said, 

“On Thursday morning, around 3am, while we were sleeping, we heard loud bangs on our door. We initially thought they were armed robbers because the house beside ours had recently been robbed.

“When they entered, we saw they were children of our landlady. They began destroying our electronics and other property.
